We fulfill the basic needs of children like Sonu, a 16 year old boy at Taabar.  Information provided by Taabar

Sonu was living with his mother and siblings in U.P. and he has two brothers and one sister. Father left the family 8 years ago and their mother somehow raised children in difficult situation. Sonu started working in his early childhood to support the family because of that he dropped out from school.  He came to Jaipur with his friend to work in a bangle making unit and started earning 4000/- per month {$50 a month}. Sonu was sending half of his earning to his mother. He was living with many other children in a small room and the employer was not providing appropriate and enough food to children working in the bangle making unit.

One day local police rescued Sonu and other children from the bangle making unit and arrested their employer. All the children got afraid of this sudden child rescue operation but later they were informed about the whole process during the counselling session. After that Sonu was transferred to Bal Basera open shelter home by the child welfare committee order. Bal Basera open shelter home provided him all the necessary services including accommodation, clean bedding, clothes, food, healthcare, hygiene kit, stationary material, craft material during his stay. An orientation was given to him and teachers linked him with education, theatre, art & craft, dance and music classes after pre-test in Bal Basera. Sonu participated in all the activities in Bal Basera and learned basic education, theatre improved his communication and confidence, various group activities enhanced his self-confidence and motivated him for the better future life.
Meanwhile, Bal Basera identified his family and contacted them to reunite Sonu with his family. After that his family came to Bal Basera and taken him back to home. Family was counselled by the Bal Basera staff. Sonu is living with his family now.

Testimonial from Milagros, Executive Director of Nutre Hogar, Santiago

ENGLISH TRANSLATION: A beautiful day comes to Nutre Hogar Santiago a couple who belong to a project called A Childhood ford children. We were so excited because we knew they were coming to help us to continue with the open doors of our center to continue our work of giving hope to children with malnutrition problems, We named them angels for our children because thanks to them the malnourished children could have a lot of food and formulas, mainly the most expensive ones in the market and the one they needed to get out of their health problem. These angels every year leave us special and very expensive formulas that we can not afford because they are very expensive. They also dedicate time and give a lot of affection and love, every year that the children come to the center they feel this special affection, just like all the staff that works in the center we are very happy to have them. These angels are so important for the children, because without them it would be very difficult for us to continue with such a beautiful work.

Our current Partners in Arusha and Moshi, Tanzania

What started out as a Travel with a Purpose project is now recurring. Climbing Kili for Kids, Tanzania, Sep. 2021

Our Climbing Kili for Kids campaign made it possible for us to serve over 800 children in Tanzania. Board members Radhika & John traveled to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and partnered with orphanages and schools to fulfill the basic needs of children, delivering:

  • ~6,500 pounds food,
  • ~5,000 notebooks, textbooks, and pencils
  • 135 sweaters & 540 undergarments
  • 30 mattresses, sheets, blankets

But it isn’t just about providing things, it is about spending time with the children and giving them all the love we can.

In 2022, we began recurring projects with each of the organizations. Novatus Morandu of The Toa Nafasi Project has this to say in their newsletter:

Our partner, A Childhood for Children — introduced to us by angel investor Richard D’Avino — has done it again! Toa Nafasi is known for its service provision, but not for supplying goods, so we are immensely grateful to have received school supplies for the second year in a row that will go to support the neediest students we serve. Undoubtedly, the lack of supplies can undermine the progress of even the brightest students, but Radhika Narain, Wilfred Ngowi and the team at A Childhood for Children have ensured that nearly 300 public school students have the supplies they need to excel academically.”

Our previous partners:

We are proud to have partnered with the following organizations on a recurring basis, but due to lack of local Ambassadors, we were unable to continue our projects. When we are unable to continue projects, we don’t stop supporting children, we look to grow our partnerships!
