OUR PURPOSE

A Childhood for Children, Inc. is organized to lessen childhood hunger, support education and the overall well-being of children in underserved communities by addressing, coordinating, and providing aid and relief, on a local and global level, directly for the benefit of children.

Our MISSION & STRATEGY

Our MISSON is to fulfill the basic needs of children with love, encouragement, empowerment, and education. We believe that by providing essential items to children, we have an impact on their childhood.

We are passionate about spending time with children to ensure that the children feel supported.

A Childhood for Children has two strategies:

– Recurring strategy where children are supported year-over-year

– Travel with a purpose – make a vacation / visit purposeful by serving children

Our VALUES

We don’t “give and go” – we SPEND time with children, sharing love, encouraging, empowering, and educating them.

We BUY locally so that we “stretch every dollar.” For international projects, we partner with local vendors to acquire items in that country.

We are ECONOMICALLY and ENVIRONMENTALLY conscious. For eg., we do not use plastic bags in our distributions and we buy fewer & larger sizes.

We EDUCATE the children by showing them how the items should be used and how to minimize waste.

100% of YOUR donations we receive the children. We do not believe in wasting resources.

What makes us UNIQUE?

  • 100% of YOUR contribution we receive directly serve children.
  • Our Founder has contributed funds to cover the organization’s modest administrative expenses for the life of our organization.
  • We are 100% volunteer-based, with volunteers paying for their own costs, if any.
  • Our small budget has a lasting impact.
  • Our donors are private individuals & companies who believe in the mission.

How we FULFILL OUR MISSION?

We have two strategies to fulfill our work.

The first is to complete recurring projects with schools or orphanages. Currently, we have established relationships with 15 organizations in India, Panama, Tanzania, and US. In prior years, we had relations with organizations in Haiti and South Africa.  We work with vendors who have proven their trustworthiness, dependability, and like-mindedness to help children. In distant countries, we have Ambassadors* and volunteers** (“boots on the ground”) who generously donate their time and energy to fulfill the basic needs of children. They fully believe in A Childhood for Children’s projects. We are in regular contact with our Ambassadors and volunteers and appreciate all that they do.

The second strategy is “Travel with a purpose“. No vacation for us is just a vacation! We research children’s facilities to find those that match our values. We contact them to learn about their organization, management, operations, and children they serve. We vet each organization to ensure there is a need and a match with A Childhood for Children’s objectives. This information comes from research on social media, friends of the charity, and local sources. If all information indicates a good fit, we put a project proposal and budget together and go through a rigorous board approval process. Once the details are completed, the search for vendors that will supply the items begins. Dates, orders, availability, transportation, payment, and more are finally determined before we arrive at the destination and personally carry out the project.

It takes TEAM effort to fulfill our mission!

* Ambassador / Advisor – an individual who consistently promotes our organization, fundraises for our organization, participates in multiple projects, provides regular feedback, and makes A Childhood for Children a regular priority. An Advisor is an Ambassador who engages consistently in operational activity.

**Volunteer – an individual who wants to do good in the world and is involved in a particular project.
